Project 1): Conduct research with the San Diego County Airport Office, the San Diego Air and Space Museum,, and the San Diego Historical Center summarizing the history of Gillespie Field from WWII Marine Training Base to today. The county has some photos and documentation and is all in favor. Then build 2-3 vertical display boards (like an accordian room divider) (3 x 6 ft with cross braced bottom foot braces) and then display the photos and documentation telling a story. The Eagle Scout project would them be displayed at the Gillespie Field airport terminal.
Project 2) I want to an Eagle Scout candidate to interview General Cardenas USAF (ret), and build a history display . storyboard on his aviation career (similar to above). General Cardenas is the B-29 pilot that dropped Chuck Yeager on his supersonic flight and test flew the YB-49 flying wing. He is a very famous test pilot, and lives in San Diego.
